| A Killer Album...Picked this up in my local dvd store, if i'd had a wider selection to choose from , i probably would have bought something different, just trying to make the point that i am not a 'die hard' ,''Brandon can do no wrong'' type.
So that said ,I love this album, i have listened to it 5 times since yesterday evening...and it keeps getting better. I was hoping to maybe find 3 or 4 killer/standout songs , and i would have been happy enough with that. However , every track on this album is a gem ...and even though ,yes, i do like all The Killers albums , none of them have had consistently brilliant songs all the way through. They are mostly brilliant, but always contain a few weaker moments. Not so with Brandon's album ,i can't even name the standout tracks ,because the standard is so high. If you like the two singles 'Crossfire' & 'Only The Young' , well then you really should buy this ,all the other songs are equally melodic, and beautiful. If you didn't like the Killers last album 'Day and Age' ,then perhaps you should steer clear ,as this to my mind is very similar i overall style and production. This certainly has a slighty countryish feel on occasion ,which is new,but not unwelcome, but in general, you get a collection of instantly memorable tunes, with crystal clear production ,brilliant, often poetic lyrics,(Yes,with a Springsteen slant, once again). Best of all though ,are Brandon's vocals , this guy can seriously sing ,and he has never done it before quite so beautifully as he does all over these 10 songs. If , like me, you like The Killers but are a bit dubious about solo albums ,i highly recommend you buy this. A revelation.Love it. So glad i went to the dvd store , or i could very well have missed out on a wonderful album. Read more...

| OutstandingDream Attic marks a stunning return to form for Richard Thompson after the lacklustre Sweet Warrior album. For those new to Richard Thompson it is as as good a place to start as any; for existing fans it may be seen as the summation of his immense talents as a song-writer, singer and performer. All thirteen songs are very strong - full of passion, irony and wit- but the ones the stand out for me so far are Haul Me Up, Crimescene, Big Sun Falling In The River Stumble On,A Brother Slips Away and If Love Whispers Your Name. The strategy of recording the songs live with a band in front of an audience is extremely successful, and seems to have resulted in some of the strongest and committed vocals he has ever laid down, plus some spine-tingling inspired guitar playing.
This edition comes with a bonus disc of acoustic demos which stands out as a fine album in its own right, because the performances are just as good and bring out different aspects of the songs.
Strongly recommended. Read more...

| A new Eminem?I really love this record. The tracks that grabbed me first are Love the Way You Lie, Won't Back Down and Talkin" 2 Myself. However it is a whole concept and a new energy is apparent in Eminem. I like lyrics so there is a lot of Bob Dylan, Em and Pete Doherty, in all his changes, in my record collection. A lot of people think it's a weird mix but the quality they share is a great and masterful use of words. They create images and pull me into their stories. I think if Em can deal with the pressure we have the prospect of more of what made Em in the first place; people empathized and felt what he did but couldn't express it. I wish him all the best.
