Anything's Better than Vista
Windows 7 is much better than Vista, but then again that's hardly praise at all.
Having got over the horrors of Vista I was first quite delighted with Windows 7. True it's not the mess that Vista is but it's still got it's limitations and they become more apparent the more you use it. Microsoft still aren't listening - in fact they seem to make out a career of it.
Come on, it's 2010 and we're still pressing the start button to turn it off! It really struggles with recognising USB devices, even powered USBs. Sometimes it recognises these devices and sometimes it just sulks and tells you your device is not present. Nothing new there then. Read more...

good, but some network probs
first of all, this is much improved from leopard, all thongs tweaked a bit to make them better. i have found a few niggles though. when my macbook is hooked up to a monitor and is connecting to wi-fi, the mouse becomes jumpy. you turn airport off, and its fine again, so you have to use and ethernet cable. the strange thing is, its only jumps with my devolo wireless extender and not with my belkin 54g. great overall, as if you have tiger you can upgrade straight to snow leopard and dont have to buy leopard first for £70 Read more...

Vista sucked by comparison
Bought this as I was advised that Vista would cause problems eventually. Although I personally had no real issues with vista this version is an awful lot better. I would recommend you by a version higher than home premium as you can encrypt your external harddrive and prevent your pc being used if it was stolen with bitlocker. Read more...

Very satisfied!
I have had a PC since the early '90s but had become increasingly frustrated by the performance of my latest machine especially after the invasion of a rather nasty virus in January 2010 which took a long time and quite a lot of cash to fix! I was encouraged by friends to switch over to Apple Mac - however to my dismay there is no personal accounting program for Mac comparable with Microsoft Money which I have been using very happily for several years. Accountz, which can run on PCs and on Mac, is too complicated! Of course, I am aware that Microsoft no longer supports Money but my 2005 version works perfectly well and doesn't need any improvements.
I then discovered Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac - nothing could be easier. It took me about an hour to install everything on my MacBook Pro and I am now able to run Money on my new machine. Highly recommended - congratulations to Parallels and many thanks to Clare Cruddock in their London Office! Read more...

Got It Right At Last
Much has been written about this product both pre & post launch. Little if any criticism has been made and I dont propose to argue. Unlike its predecessor Vista it works really well and doesn't hog resources. The great thing in my opinion disregarding the aesthetics is that even relatively low spec pc's can run it. No need for multi-core processors. For example my humble Acer laptop with a Celeron 1.6ghz single core chip and 2MB of memory runs better than when using XP. All the device drivers installed so no browsing the internet to locate the appropriate ones in my case.
One word of advice though. If you have 64 bit architechure be aware that installing the x64 version might create problems with legacy hardware ie printers. Microsoft have very cleverly incorporated albeit via a separate download a virtual machine to run 32 bit XP. However unless your processor supports this technology it wont work. Read more...
