Former Windows user...After buying my Macbook Pro 13', I downloaded the trial editions of both Office 2008 and iWork before purchasing one, and here are the reasons why I decided to go for Microsoft Office: 1.) Having just learned all the ropes for Microsoft Office 2003 before I switched to a macbook pro, I didn't really want to take the time to learn iWork. 2.) As a student, Microsoft Office's notebook view in Word is unlike anything iWork had. 3.) Although iWork seemed simpler, I found that it was much easier to perform simple tasks with Microsoft Office.
So far I haven't come up with any compatibility issues, and the programs are great. No crashes or malfunctions. I guess the true test will come this month when I start university, and file sharing becomes more of an every day event! I would definitely recommend this product to those who aren't ready to learn iWork, and want to stick with the familiar Microsoft Office interface. Like I said, I upgraded from Office 2003 so I can't say how this compares to Office 2010 or newer versions, but it sure beats 2003 by a long shot! There's nothing that I'm really missing in the interface of the programs, so they fit my needs perfectly. Read more...

| Very good software best security I've used so farAfter removing my old Norton Security Suite which runs out soon I decided to install this one. I have never used Kaspersky before but it installed ok and states there is a 3 PC licence use so I can put it on my PC my laptop and Grandsons PC. It works very efficiently and doesn't slow my system down at all in fact it knows when am using the PC and when am not so it gets to work in the background when there is time to scan things unless I give it the command to scan something such as a USB drive that's not been plugged in before that my mate brings over for example.
On scanning my system I actually found 4 Trojans that had crept in somehow. I clicked on the protection
State tab and Neutralize all but no confirment was given so I don't know if these things are still in action on my PC or what. A day or two later I found that these Trojans are still present so I don't know what's going on here. After pressing Neutralize again I wiped clear the list of the four Trojans to see if it comes up again later. Upon installing it took 5 hours to do a full system scan so it looks like I will have to rescan it all again immediately to see if the Trojans show up again. Right I got rid of them but I thought the software would at least confirm this so I don't have to check again. The Virtual Keyboard feature is a good idea when inputting passwords and stuff eps when banking on line, anything that keeps us more secure the better, this is probably one of the programs strongest points. As I can't always rely on windows system restore to restore everything all of the time its nice that this software will do that too as a back-up tool. The Safe run for websites feature gives you even more protection when inputting sensitive info. So far been using this for a week with no major problems am glad apart from the confirmation thing.

| Really regret buying this - another attempt by Microsoft to force one into buying unnecessary softwareI have happily used Microsoft Office in the past. Before buying this I was using Office Professional 2003. (using Word, Excel, Outlook and Publisher). As this was only licensed for one machine I bought Office Home and Student 2007 so I could use Word and Excel on my other PC. I wish I hadnt bothered. I have two serious complaints.
First - 2007 (and 2010 update) is incompatible with 2003. I am just about to uninstall the whole 2007 (2010) suite from my original computer so that I can re-install my 2003 Outlook and Publisher. The Publisher software is important to me and I cannot afford to update this as it cost over £100 for a licence for a single machine!
Second - the update to 2010 is a further attempt by Microsoft to force one to buy additional software. Not only does it update the Home and Student software it also installs trial versions of all the other Professional suite software - overwriting the orginal 2003 software. Hence my perfectly satisfactory Publisher and Outlook 2003 have been replaced by trial packages of Publisher and Outlook 2010 which will stop working in 60 days. There is no facility to delete the trial without deleting the whole of the Office suite. There is no facility within Publisher 2010 to save files in Publisher 2003 format to use with my old software after the trial ends. Hence if I inadvertantly used the trial software I would end up with files I could not read on my original software. Read more...
